Laura May Chvala's Obituary
Laura May Chvala, age 73, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020. She was born on March 1, 1947 to Estol and Iva (Giddings) Crabtree in Muskegon, MI. One of the things Laura enjoyed and looked forward to the most was her weekend away at “Wheatland”. Saturday mornings she would load up and tell Ed she was heading to “K-Mart”, with everyone knowing that was the code name for “The Casino”. Whether she won or lost that day, everyone knew when asked if Laura won, it was always, SHE BROKE EVEN! She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Chvala; step-children, Steve (Lin), Neil (Kathie), and Rick (Jodi) Chvala; brothers, Estol (Mike) Crabtree, Edwin (Diane) Crabtree and sisters, Iva (Ron-deceased) Ogborn, Melinda (Edward) Miotke, Lorine (Ralph) Guzman, Paula Crabtree; along with 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; special friends, Nancy Porter-Ellis, Luana Maxwell and Shari Rohn. Laura was preceded in death by her 3 sons, Ronald (Maria) Cole, Anthony Cole and Wayne Szot; Brother, Richard Crabtree. A LIMITED SIZE VISITATION for Laura will take place on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at The Sytsema Chapel of the Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442. A private family service will take place. Burial will take place in Mona View Cemetery in the springtime. Committal Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Mona View Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Norman P. Droski officiating.
