Laurel E. Moore's Obituary
Laurel E. Moore, 67, passed away early Sunday morning, February 28, 2016 in Muskegon. She was born August 18, 1948 to Albert and Louise (Root) Moore in Bay City, MI, and moved to the Muskegon area 8 years ago. Laurel had worked as a legal secretary for the Hubbell and Hubbell Law Firm in Traverse City for 25 years before retiring in 2007. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, knitting, traveling and the challenges of being a legal secretary. Laurel married George R. “Bob” Wharton on January 5, 2007 and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2015. Survivors include 1 brother, Ted (Jackie) Moore of Georgia; 1 sister, Mary L. (Bob) Leffler of Illinois; 4 step-brothers, William Paige of Kalamazoo, Bob Paige of Missouri, Steve Grimes of Ohio, Warren (Amity) Grimes of California; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 19, at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Contributions in memory of Laurel may be made to the Muskegon Pistol and Rifle Club Youth Program.
