Laurel (Moon) Ray's Obituary
Laurel N. (Moon) Ray, age 69, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at home. She was born on June 11, 1954, to Glenn and Isabella (Cooley) Moon in Fremont, MI. She graduated from Holton High School class of 1972. Laurel was a dedicated employee of Brunswick Corporation where she worked many years before retiring. She took joy in the simple pleasures of life, including but not limited to having her daily phone conversations with her siblings, and calling to check in with other family and friends. As well as walking next door to see family even for a moment. Laurel loved being outdoors, a favorite of hers was walking along the Lake Michigan shoreline collecting driftwood to repurpose in different ways. She found joy in finding the best deals at garage sales and shopping in general. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her family and friends. Laurel was a loving mother, doting grandma, wonderful sister and caring friend. Her kind spirit, spread by her ray of sunshine smile, will be remembered by her family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa (Steven) Frantz and Sumer Felcoskie; three grandchildren, Shaun, Allison and Amy Frantz; two sisters, Judith (Dan) Longnecker and Karen Schaefer; brother, Glenn Moon; bonus daughter, Michelle Hekkema; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Laurel was centered in all things positive; her family wishes to continue her outlook on life by celebrating her on a day she was looking forward to, Laurel’s 70th birthday! A true celebration of her life will be held from 4-6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Northside Pub banquet room, 2353 Holton Rd., Muskegon, MI 49445, with a Time of Sharing starting at 4:00 PM. Arrangements entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Share memories with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
