Laurie Susan Hulst's Obituary
Mrs. Laurie Susan Hulst, age 65, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023 in Muskegon, Michigan. She was born in Montclair, New Jersey on March 6, 1958 to Robert and Kathryn (Morris) Henshaw. Laurie graduated from Wayne State University and worked as an occupational therapist for Pine Rest Christian Psychiatric Hospital. Her strong spirit and a passion for serving others led her to share her gifts through different ministries; most recently those included Families Victorious and Prison Fellowship Ministries. She was a member of Shores Community Church. Laurie will be remembered for her love of family, friends, and passion to serve others. On October 3, 2004, Laurie married Robert “RJ” Hulst in Muskegon and he survives her along with two sons, Ben (Jennifer) Hulst and Aaron (Corinne Martin) Hulst; three grandchildren, Tristan, Hailey, and Katelynn; her father and step-mother, Robert and Bonnie Henshaw; sister, Lynn (Larry) Gorkun; niece, Jennifer (Bob) Brassard; and great-niece, Maddison Brassard. Laurie was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn Henshaw; parents-in-law, Ralph and Verna Jean Hulst; and grandparents, Russell and Velma Morris and Dr. George Russell and Isadora Henshaw. VISITATION will be held from 5-8 PM Thursday, August 31, 2023 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49441. Her MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 1, 2023 at Shores Community Church, 3800 Lake Harbor Road, Norton Shores, MI 49441.
