LaVerne L. "Verne" Anderson's Obituary
LaVerne L. “Verne” Anderson, age 97, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at home. He was born on February 15, 1924 to Austin and Cora (Swarthout) Anderson in Muskegon, MI and has been a resident ever since. He was a proud veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Verne was a talented tool maker and founded his own business, Anderson Machine and Tool. He retired from his life-long career in 1988. He married the love of his life, the former Bernice Bramlette on September 1, 1946 in Angola, IN. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer and was a member of the Oakridge golf club. Verne was also an outgoing man who enjoyed taking numerous motorcycle rides all around town. He was very involved with his community and was a member of the Viking Linne’ Lodge #57, Muskegon Elks #274, and the V.F.W. Post #8846 Auxiliary. He was a generous and friendly spirit who will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his 2 children, Terry (Tanya) Anderson and Sheila Stevens; 2 grandsons, Heath Priest and Larry Pollock; 5 great-grandchildren, Britny Priest, Dakota Priest Sr., Dalton Cheshire, Xander Priest, and Gage Vanden Bosch; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Journey Cheshire, Allen Yack, Dakota “DJ” Priest Jr., and Ayden Yack; and sister, Marilyn Behse. He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Bernice Anderson; son, Larry Anderson; brother, Carroll Anderson; and son-in-law, Michael Stevens. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A visitation with the family will be held one-hour prior. He will be laid to rest next to Bernice at Norton Cemetery following the service.
