Laverne J. Nelson, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, February 2, 2026, in Muskegon, MI. She was born to James Carver and Helen Edwards on February 5, 1941, in Muskegon, MI. Laverne married the love of her life, Larry D. Nelson, on July 14, 1956, in Muskegon, MI. and they were able to spend 65 wonderful years of marriage together. Laverne enjoyed crafting, painting, drawing, working in her food and flower gardens and cooking. She was known for her great love of her family and grandchildren. She was youthful, playful and enjoyed being silly with her grandchildren and loved spending time with family. She is survived by her children: Shelly Sterling, Laurie Marsala, Don Nelson, Julie (Adam) Pollock, Pamela Nelson, Kelly (Mike) Mayette; brothers: David (Diane) Edwards, Dennis (Maggie) Edwards, Larry Edwards; sister: Charlene Santiago, 21 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: James Carver and Helen Edwards; husband: Larry Nelson; sister: Carol Pufflet; son-in-law: Rock Sterling. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Park Meadows Mobile Home Community Club House, 210 W. Giles Rd, Muskegon, MI. 49445.
