Lavon I. Schumaker's Obituary
Mrs. Lavon Ilah Schumaker, age 63, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born on June 13, 1951 in Muskegon to David and Ilah (Lutteroh) Hickman, and resided in the area most of her life. Lavon was a member of Fifth Reformed Church. In 1971, she married Daniel Schumaker, who was the love of her life, and they enjoyed spending time together and taking care of their family. Lavon worked for Lakeshore Medical in Whitehall and Shelby for more than 15 years, prior to retiring in 2013. SURVIVORS include 3 sons, Matthew (Toi) Schumaker of Holland, MI and their children Zachary Chanthavongsa, Hayley and Lindsey Schumaker, Kevin (Joelle) Schumaker of Portage, MI and their children Ava and Alexis Schumaker, and Andrew (Rachael) Schumaker of Howell, MI and their children Lucus, Mason and Jayce Schumaker; 2 sisters, Sharie Devenport and Cinda (Roger) Hobbs; and 4 brothers, David (Sherrie) Hickman, Tracy (Jeanne) Hickman, Robert (Sherry) Hickman, and Jim (Marlene) Hickman. Lavon was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel in 1986; her parents; brother, Paul Hickman; and sister, Lynelle Westerlund. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 10 AM Saturday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 with Pastor Paul Burmeister officiating. VISITATION with her family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 9-10AM.
