Lawrence E. LaVasseur's Obituary
Lawrence “Skip” LaVasseur, age 74, of Muskegon, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, December 26, 2021. Skip was born in Muskegon on September 10, 1947, to his parents, George and Elvida (Bartell) LaVasseur. After graduating from Oakridge High School, he went on to proudly serve his country during the Vietnam War. Skip loved to take trips to the Upper Peninsula on his Harley Motorcycle, and many would say that he had the nicest cut grass in the neighborhood. Skip was incredibly social and would often visit his friends to see how they were doing. He had an infectious laugh that had the power to brighten up whatever room he was in. Skip loved everyone, especially his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Danny and Ronne LaVasseur; grandchildren: Jacob LaVasseur and Rylee Palmer; brother, Ron (Sally) LaVasseur; his children’s mother, Diane LaVasseur; special nephew, Terry Gue; close cousin, Randy (Kathy) Wilkerson; Rylee’s father, Timothy Palmer; as well as various nieces, nephews, and cousins. Skip was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois Gue; brother in-law, Douglas Gue; and his favorite aunts, Judy and Chuck. The burial with military honors for Skip will be taking place at 1:00 PM on July 22, 2022, at Egelston Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Skip’s memory can be made out to VFW Post 7729 (6285 E Apple Ave, Muskegon, Michigan 49442).
