Lawrence J. Mikkelson's Obituary
Lawrence Joseph Mikkelson, age 62, went home to be with his father, mother, and other family members on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Larry’s life began on April 14, 1957, when he was born to Paul and Patricia (Rowe) Mikkelson. He lived and went to school in Montague, MI until he met the love of his life, the former Teresa Bates. On October 3, 1981, they married and moved to N. Muskegon, were they spent the rest of their life together. Larry worked at Arconic (Howmet) in Whitehall for 33 years. He was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his ultimate joy was his three granddaughters. Larry left very fond memories to: his loving and devoted wife, Teresa; son, Josh Mikkelson; daughter, Jessica Jones; grandchildren: Lexi, Brea, and Tessa Jones; brother, Ron Mikkelson; sister, Candy (George) Perry; mother-in-law, Gloria Bates; brothers-in-law: Dennis Moore, Brent, Kent (Kathy Paquin), Lonnie (Ann) Bates; sister-in-law, Tammy (Dave) Bennett; many nieces and nephews; and his german shepherd pup, Abby. Those welcoming him home are his parents; brother, Gordie; sister, Kathy; sister-in-law, Karen; and father-in-law, Norm Bates. SERVICES for Larry will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with Pastor Scott VanArendonk officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Monday, April 22, 2019 and one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning.
