Dan and I extend our deepest sympathies to our friend Joy and the entire family on the loss of Larry. He was such a vibrant, wonderful person who meant so much to many. I recall when I was a 9th grader, and a member of the junior high orchestra at Ottawa Hills, I complained to Larry that I was not improving on my violin skills and was ready to quit. He took me aside and said, “If you want something you have to work really hard to get it." He cared about my feelings yet put it back on me and inspired me to push myself. I earned a top chair in the orchestra. Having some esteem issues and low self confidence in those days, I really cherished his opinion and I NEVER forgot that advice from such a young lad. I could go on about other moments in time when Larry showed up as we made that journey through school. He was a leader and most certainly led by example.
At our class reunions, my husband Dan and Larry shared their experiences as Marines, and had great conversations about a lot of things. Bottom line – Larry was the whole package……kind, empathetic, interesting, had a fabulous sense of humor, was handsome, brilliant and obviously had great taste in women by marrying lovely Joy…..who just happens to be my friend as classmate as well.
Rest in peace dear one. You will always be in my heart and I will never forget the positive impact that you had on us all. Love…….Patti (Moore) Brink
