Mr. Lawrence C. Furman, age 87, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006 in Muskegon. He was born December 13, 1918 to Charles B. and Margaret (Rothery) Furman in Lackawanna, New York, and moved to the Muskegon area in 1965. He graduated from Penn State University, and had worked with Bethlehem Steel. Lawrence worked at Howmet in Whitehall for 30 years, retiring in 1986, was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. On November 29, 1947 he married Evelyn Atkins in Buffalo, New York. SURVIVORS include his wife Evelyn of Roosevelt Park; 3 children, Gary Charles Furman of Chattanooga, TN, Deborah Ann Storts of Land O’Lakes, FL, Darlene Marie (Charles) Conville of Traverse City, MI; 1 grandson, Derrick Paul Storts of Land O’Lakes, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, John, Edward, and Donald; and 1 sister, Barbara. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Mark Bauer presiding. Burial will take place at Mona View Cemetery. There will be a time of gathering with the family following the mass at church.
