Lawrence Creighton Reddy's Obituary
Mr. Lawrence Creighton Reddy, age 62, passed away April 14, 2006, after a very long illness at Mercy Hospital. Mr. Reddy was born December 6, 1943 to L. James and Kathryn O. (Mattimore) Reddy in Kalamazoo. On July 9, 1985 he married Janet S. Thomas in Muskegon, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents and is now survived by his wife, Janet S. Thomas. After completing his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University and Western Michigan University, Mr. Reddy graduated from the Detroit College of Law in 1969. After working for the Kalamazoo Prosecutors Office, Mr. Reddy relocated to make the Muskegon area his home in 1974. Mr. Reddy was one of the first attorneys in the area to advertise legal services and one of the first attorneys in the area to practice debtor Bankruptcy Law operating the West Michigan Bankruptcy Clinic PC. Mr. Reddy also practiced a personal injury, workers compensation and family law under the name of Law Offices of L. Creighton Reddy, later changing the name of the firm to the Reddy, Thomas and Associates when his wife, also a local attorney, took over the practice as managing partner when he retired in 1987. A life long Democrat, Mr. Reddy was a supporting member of the NAACP, a member of the ACLU, and Michigan Democratic Party. SURVIVORS include his wife, Janet S. Thomas; daughters, Trisha Johnson of London, UK, Shellie Johnson of Chicago, IL; brothers, Patrick (Carol) Reddy of Plymouth, MI, Michael (Linda) Reddy of Warren, MI; sisters, Kathleen (Michael) Ploch of Sugarhill, GA, Maureen Reddy-Osgood of Wurtzberg, Germany; mother-in-law, Geneva M. Thomas of Fremont, MI; brothers-in-law, Michael J. Thomas of Boyne, MI, Steven A. (Lori) Thomas of Perry, MI; and many nieces and nephews. He will be mourned by his good friend, Alan S. Rapoport and paralegal staff members and friends of many years, Nancy E. Hurren and Alicia L. Meinders, the rest of his staff and friends in the legal community. The family wished to thank his friend of many years, physician Hernon Guiang, MD and James Grace, MD and his staff for their many years of kind and extraordinary medical care, the emergency room staff and internal medicine staff of Mercy General Health Partners.
