Lawrence I. Abbott's Obituary
Mr. Lawrence I. Abbott, age 86, died Monday, September 3, 2007 in Muskegon. He was born December 26, 1920 in Hesperia to E. Milton and Mabel (Sorter) Abbott, and had resided in the area his entire life. He was a Veteran of the US Army having served in WWII, an avid amateur radio operator, and enjoyed playing the guitar. Mr. Abbott was retired from Teledyne Continental Motors as an electrician. On February 23, 1946 he married the former Lenore Califf in Holton, and she preceded him in death on March 17, 1995. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Ernest (Darlene) Uber of Muskegon, Francis (Peg) Henagin of Cookville, TN, and Helen Charland also of Muskegon; son-in-law, Grayle (Vicki) Woodruff; 11 grandchildren, Diane (Peter) DeGraff, Grayle (Jackie) Woodruff, Jr., Denise Kelley, Dawn (Dennis) Boon, Darla (Bill) Parks, Dori (David) Matey, Brent (Amber) Uber, Marty Uber, Vicki Klinger, Glenda Henagin, Cathy Henagin; several great and great great grandchildren; brother, Orrin Lee Abbott of Columbus, GA; and sister, Sybil Packingham of Muskegon. Mr. Abbott was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and son-in-law, James Charland. SERVICES will be 11 AM Friday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor Terry Fulk officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 6-7:30 PM Thursday. Burial will take place in Twin Lake Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to the Muskegon County Council of Veterans would be appreciated.
