L. David Morell's Obituary
Mr. L. David Morell, 77, passed away while vacationing in Rome, Italy on Friday, September 3, 2010. Born in Hart, MI on June 17, 1933 to Frank and Martha (Metzger) Morell, he was a life resident of Muskegon. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict, and graduated from Ferris State University. He was a member of Forest Park Covenant Church where he had served on many committees, and had been on the Board of Directors of Mary and Joseph House. Mr. Morell was an executive at Brunswick Corp. for 33 years prior to his retirement, and was a member of the Keyman’s Club there. He loved fishing on his boat “Finally”, golfing with his buddies, playing with his grandkids, hunting, and following the Detroit Tigers. He also enjoyed being a Little League coach for many years, and later serving as a Red Cross Senior Transportation driver. Fifty-two years ago, on May 18, 1958, he married the former Carol Germiquet, and she survives him along with two sons: David (Cathy) Morell of Orlando, FL and Steven (Kelly) Morell of Muskegon; a daughter, Terri (Ken) Turner of Broomfield, CO; five grandsons: Steven Morell, Ryan Turner, Luke Turner, Chase Morell and Scott Morell; three granddaughters: Kim Turner, Olivia Morell, and Jenna Morell; his brother, Don (Margaret) Morell; and his mother-in-law, Niada Germiquet. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eldonna Tarte. SERVICES for Mr. Morell will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Forest Park Covenant Church with Rev. Russell Carlson and Rev. David Dalberg officiating. Interment with military rites will be made in Norton Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to Muskegon Love INC or Muskegon Rescue Mission would be appreciated.
