Leah J. Wonnenberg's Obituary
In loving memory of Leah Jane (Scarlett) Wonnenberg. She was born July 27, 1916 at home in Lansing, MI to William Cecil and Hattie Adele (Fuller) Scarlett. On August 11, 1936 she married Archie A. Wonnenberg in Lansing and he preceded her in death in 1977. For 27 ½ years she worked at the Secretary of State’s Office in Lansing before retiring in 1982. She passed away quietly and peacefully in her sleep on October 28, 2010 surrounded by those who loved her. She is survived by her only daughter, Jeanne Ann (Ronald) Weirauch; granddaughters, Molly (Craig) and Jill; great-grandchildren, Spencer Mark, Hannah Leah, and Sophia Anne. She was also preceded in death by her son, Martin William Wonnenberg on July 27, 1938; great-granddaughter, Angelee Lauren on July 19, 2008; sister, Margaret Petroff; and a brother, George Scarlett. Leah was dedicated to God, her family and friends, putting them above all, including herself. Her selfless, loving nature touched many lives and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a long-time member of Calvary Church, loved helping at Shepherd’s Home, and going to the Lake Ann retreats. Leah’s daily walk with the Lord was an inspiration to us all and we will always carry a piece of her with us in our hearts. A Celebration of Leah’s Life will take place 12:00 Noon Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Calvary Church (5873 Kendra) with Pastor Terry Fulk officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to the Calvary Christian Schools or Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
