Mr. Lee P. Longmire Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Lee P. Longmire, Sr., age 79, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Muskegon. He was born in Moorhead, MS on April 8, 1935 to Henry and Ogail (Minton) Longmire. Lee was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had worked as a claims examiner for the State of Michigan for 25 years before retiring in 1997 and had previously been employed by Cambell Wyant and Cannon. Lee loved working on cars and was able to turn his hobby into a successful business when he opened Lee’s Budget Auto body. He was a member of the Elks Charity Lodge #1397 and enjoyed trips to the casino. On May 10, 1969, Lee married the former Sarah Brower in Muskegon and she survives him along with 12 children, Carla Longmire, Lakeyse Longmire, Lee (Katheryn) Foley, Cedric Lamont Foley, Elroy (Elizabeth) Hilliard, Douglas (Trina) Gray, Aaron Johnson, Adrian Johnson, Lee P. Longmire, Jr., Lee B. Longmire, Lenard (LeAnn) Longmire and Bobby Hoye; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Mathews; two sisters-in-law, Dora Longmire and Thelma Longmire; many nieces and nephews and two special nieces, LaNisa Kelly and Chandra Mathews-Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 brothers and sisters. A CELEBRATION of Lee’s LIFE will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with his nephew, Minister Hamid Stalling officiating.
