Len Alvis Kemp's Obituary
Mr. Len Alvis Kemp, age 73, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 23, 2019 in Muskegon following a brief illness from dermatomyositis. He was born in Muskegon on December 24, 1945 to Virgil and Beatrice (Thebo) Kemp. Len was a veteran of the United States Army. He owned Ajax Sales Corp for many years but was a salesman at heart, forming lasting friendships wherever he went. Len was a member of the Muskegon Elks Lodge #274 and a life-time member of the Turkey Hill Club. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time making his grandkids laugh. Len also spent many years coaching for Mona Shores Boys Club Football and Baseball leagues and assisted his nephew, Scott Volkmann, with the Mona Shores High School Boys Golf Team. On November 15, 1967, Len married the former Linda A. Volkmann in Muskegon and recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary. She survives him along with their two children, Dean (Deborah) Kemp and Stacy (Eric) Mellema; five grandchildren, Clayton, Morgan, Madison, Samantha, and Alison; twin-brother, Lee (Cindy) Kemp, siblings, Mary, Marie, and James; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bruce and John Kemp. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441. VISITATION will be from 4-7 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at The Walburn Chapel. MEMORIALS in memory of Len may be directed to the Mona Shores Boys Golf Team.
