Lenus "Leo" Schnipke's Obituary
Mr. Lenus E. “Leo” Schnipke, age 95, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2005 in Muskegon. He was born June 3, 1910 in Copemish, MI to Bernard and Magdalena (Mormon) Schnipke, and lived most of his life in Muskegon. He married the former Ardith “Ardie” Richards on August 28, 1933 and she preceded him in death on March 14, 1994. Prior to retirement, he worked over 40 years for Plumb’s Supermarket. He was a founding member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where he served on the financial board, and as an altar server for funerals. He was also a long-time member of the Muskegon Catholic Central School Board, the Senior Resources Board for Muskegon, Oceana, and Ottawa Counties, and the Egelston Township Board. He was also a member of the Happy Wanderers Trailer Club. SURVIVORS include 3 daughters, Carol (Lavern) Cavanaugh, Sandra (Dan) Roskoski both of Muskegon, and Linda (David) Maycroft of Ravenna; 11 grandchildren, Fran and Ginger Cavanaugh, Greg and Sue Cavanaugh, Den and Susan Cavanaugh, Bob and Kellie Cavanaugh, Richard Maus, Laura and Earl Carroll, Christine and Shaun Casey, Jennifer and David Peterson, Wendy Hall, Wanda and Larry Passenier, Tracy and Tom Bartell, 29 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Frances Centilli of Chelsea. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Tuesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Olson presiding. Burial will take place at Egelston Township Cemetery. VISITATION at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210
