Mr. Leo C. Evans' Obituary
Leo C. Evans, age 93, of Twin Lake passed away after breaking his hip while feeding the wild turkeys he loved taking care of on Wednesday, February 04, 2015. He was born July 7, 1921 to Leo G. and Shirley Evans in Hart, MI. On December 4, 1944 he married the former Maxine Farber. Leo was a foreman for the Muskegon County Road Commission for 29 years before his retirement in 1981. In his retirement Leo enjoyed reading, traveling, hunting and fishing. He was a proud WWII veteran of the US Navy, and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #8846. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Maxine; children, Kay (Edward) Kawaleski, Kristi Campbell (George), Leo S. (Linda) Evans; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ron Evans; son-in-law, Dave Campbell; and two brothers. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Leo will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church (1568 West Giles Road). Memorial contributions can be made in Leo’s name to Richard Mullally for continuing to tell the stories of local WWII Veterans or the Gale Cemetery in Newfield Township.
