Leo D. Parker's Obituary
Leo D. Parker, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, doing what he loved in the woods. He was born on March 21, 1962, to James and Thelma (Trahan) Parker in Muskegon, which has been home most of his life. He was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. On June 23, 2001, he married the love of his life, Carol Sumerix. Together they cherished 22 years full of love and endless laughter. Leo was an outdoorsman through and through. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the woods. Leo also loved barbecuing with a cold brew in hand. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by the many who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Carol Parker; four children, Joshua (Sarah) Parker, Steven (Brandi) Monroe, Caleb (Ondy) Blodgett and Jimmy (Nita) Smith; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three siblings; four stepsiblings; father-in-law, Gerald “Gary” Sumerix; sister-in-law, Rophena (Mike) Rau; brothers-in-law, Gerald (Cheryl) Sumerix Jr. and Homer Hoagland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings; mother-in-law, Kay Sumerix; sister-in-law, Geraldine Hoagland; and nephew, Gerald Sumerix III. A Celebration of Leo’s life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, starting at 12:00 PM at his home.
