Mr. Leonard LeRoy Barnard's Obituary
Mr. Leonard LeRoy Barnard, 91, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021, in Muskegon. He was born February 12, 1930 to Leonard and Gussie (Grove) Barnard in Muskegon, and lived most of his life here. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired from Anaconda. Leonard enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing cribbage. On May 26, 1953 he married Vera L. Freeman, and she survives him along with 4 children: Denine Murphy, Bruce (Susan) Barnard, Scott (Beth) Barnard, Jason (Mary) Barnard; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Patricia Ferris and Nola Wilson. He was preceded in death by 2 children, Bonnie Collis and Patrick L. Barnard. A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at Clark Cemetery, Newaygo County. Contributions in memory of Mr. Barnard may be made to the Muskegon Rescue Mission. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
