Leonard "Len" Piasecki's Obituary
Leonard “Len” Piasecki, age 75, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 9, 2022. He was born in Muskegon, MI, on November 11, 1946, to Walter Piasecki and Lucille (Gorajec) Piasecki. On April 1, 1967, he married the love of his life, Donna Lee Kozik, at St. Catherine's Church in Ravenna, MI. Len graduated from Ravenna High School in 1965. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served in Bamberg, Germany, during the Vietnam War. Len was an active member of the Muskegon community, where he founded the Muskegon Community College Veterans Club, was vice president of Roosevelt Park Youth Athletics baseball league, founded the Muskegon ChannelCats travel baseball club, founded Lakeshore Baseball Club, partnered with Pete Gawkowski in revitalizing Historic Marsh Field, chaired the Muskegon County Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee, co-chaired Capture Muskegon's downtown mural project, and founded Muskegon Polish Festival. In 2011, the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce recognized him as an Agent of Change. Len worked at Sun Chemical for 26 years before retiring as a maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed spending winters in Islamorada, FL, with his wife Donna. He especially loved his eight grandchildren and could always be found attending their sporting events, school activities, and performances. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna; three children: Jason (Tracey) Piasecki of Norton Shores, Sarah Piasecki of Roosevelt Park, and Stacy (Lacey) Piasecki of Hudsonville; grandchildren: Emma, Grace and Aaron Piasecki, Olivia and Liam Holliday, Parker, Remy, and Briggs Piasecki; siblings: David (Tom Martin) Piasecki and Joan (Ed) Kling. Len's family would like to thank his caregivers during his last days, his niece Kim Gillard, Irish Blevins, and his daughter, Sarah. Visitation for Len will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM, Friday, October 14, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. The Memorial Service will be held at The Lee Chapel at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 15, 2022. A celebration luncheon will be immediately following the service at 3 PM at Tatra Hall, 2526 6th St, Muskegon, MI 49444. A private Interment will take place for immediate family at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Ravenna. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Len's memory may be sent to Muskegon Polish Festival and Roosevelt Park Youth Athletics.
