Leonard Wittek's Obituary
Leonard Wittek, age 81, of Grand Haven passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009, at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. He was born September 1, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to Lorenz and Mary (Gresik) Wittek, and he married the former Joyce B. Ryder on November 26, 1949, in Grand Haven.
Mr. Wittek served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the AMVETS Post 1994 in Spring Lake and the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28 in Grand Haven. He was formerly employed by Olberg Manufacturing and enjoyed dancing the Polka, machining, boxing, and martial arts.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Wittek and Patrick Wittek; two grandchildren, Kelly Miller and Paula Wittek; one great-granddaughter, Hailey Miller; and his dogs, Bandit and Sasha. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, a sister, Virginia Holmes, and three brothers: Stanley, Rudolph, and Julius Wittek.
