Leonard A. Boersema's Obituary
Mr. Leonard A. Boersema, age 82, passed away at home, peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday, August 20, 2006. He was born on April 1, 1924 to Menno and Esther (Anderson) Boersema in Twin Lake. Mr. Boersema was a member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. Mr. Boersema served his country in the Army during WW II from August 13, 1943 to January 6, 1946 receiving 4 Bronze Star medals and 1 Purple Heart. He had owned and operated Boersema TV Service until his retirement in 1986. On June 25, 1948, he married, Eloise M. Wagner in Muskegon and she survives him along with 5 children, Deborah (David) Arnson, Marlyce (Jim) Hammitt, Shelley (Mike) Black, Brian (Jill) Boersema, Karen (Ralph) Williams III; 15 grandchildren, Nathan Marakowitz, Amber Arnson, Harley Arnson, Jim (Tara) Hammitt, Jeana Hammitt, Joana (Kevin) Baldermann, Jeremy Black, Nicole Black, Ryan Boersema, Matthew Boersema, Jacob Boersema, Erin Boersema, Jessica (Brendon) Kemink, Kathy (Brian) Allison, Colt (Kara) Erickson, 5 great-grandchildren Jordan Hammitt, Emmerich Rodriquez, Remington Kemink, Alden Erickson, Bryce Allison. 1 sister, Ruth Kieft, 1 brother, Munroe (Waneeta) Boersema, and 1 sister-in-law, Catherine Boersema. Mr. Boersema was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, John Boersema and brother-in-law, Frank Kieft. SERVICES will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church with Rev. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM today, August 22, 2006 at the Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. Muskegon, MI 231-726-5210 and one hour prior to the service at church. MEMORIALS may be directed to Harbor Hospice or Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. Burial will take place at E. Dalton Oakhill Cemetery.
