Leonard G. Kalbfleisch, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Leonard George Kalbfleisch, Sr., age 75, passed away at his residence of cancer on July 8, 2005. He was born November 13, 1929 in Petoskey, Michigan to Eva Mae Zink and Ralph Charles Kalbfleisch. Leonard graduated from Petoskey High School in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. On April 7, 1951 he married the former Hattie “Susie” Yell in Petoskey. Prior to his retirement, in 1991, he worked at Sealed Power as a machinist for 39 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed gardening and working around his home on his John Deere. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susie Kalbfleisch, of Sullivan Township; 3 children Susan Kalbfleisch Suits (Victor) of Spring Lake, Leonard George Kalbfleisch, Jr., of Kentwood, and Kandy Kalbfleisch Lazell (Matt) of Novi; 1 grandchild, Jaclyn Aubrey Kalbfleisch; 3 sisters, Beverly Zeller of Muskegon, Elvera McCarter (John) of Traverse City, Sally Carpenter (Dorr) of Petoskey; 5 brothers, Vilan (Leona), Bill, Orville (Marion), and Allen (Lucy) Kalbfleisch all of Petoskey and Roger Kalbfleisch of St. Petersburg, Florida; 1 brother-in-law, Al Thomten of Muskegon; 1 sister-in-law, Heidi Kalbfleisch of Rodney, MI; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Charlotte Thomten and June Kalbfleisch; and by his brother, Harold. The FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11 AM Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Phil Sliwinski, presiding. Burial will be in Egelston Township Cemetery. VISITATION with Leonard’s family will be Sunday, July 10, 2005 from 4-8 PM at
