Leonard J. "Doc" Bathrick's Obituary
Mr. Leonard J. “Doc” Bathrick, age 81, passed away Monday, August 9, 2004. He was born June 1, 1923 in Muskegon to Leonard L. and Anna M. (Wright) Bathrick and lived his entire life in the area. Doc served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-1946. He was employed as a supervisor at Bennett Pump Co. for 40 years. He also worked as treasurer at Bennett Pump Credit Union and drove bus for Mona Shores School Systems following his retirement from Bennett Pump in 1981. Doc has been a member at McGraft Memorial Congregational Church for 35 years. Without a doubt, family was Doc’s #1 love. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, camping, and traveling. His gentle and loving heart will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
He leaves behind his wife, Shirley; 5 children, Janice K. (Ronald) Sweet, Leonard J. Bathrick, Daniel F. (Jerel) Bathrick, Nancy L. (Vaughn) Klaassen, Donald A. Keen. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Kendra and Kiley Bathrick, Wesley, Nathan, and Elisa Klaassen; 1 sister, Dena Hilliard; and special friends, Ben and Phyllis Bonin. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin N. Keen in 1995 and his brother, Albert Bathrick in 1973.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 12, 2004 at MC GRAFT MEMORIAL CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH (1617 Palmer Avenue) with Rev. Dr. Gerald J. Wahr officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
VISITATION with Doc’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565.
