Leonora P. Clark's Obituary
Leonora P. Clark, age 98, of Spring Lake passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009, at a local care facility. She was born February 24, 1910, in Grand Rapids to Frank and Nettie (Peck) Watson, and she married John Henry Clark on April 17, 1929, in Grand Rapids. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1978.
Leonora lived most of her life in the Tri-Cities area and attended Spring Lake Wesleyan Church. She formerly worked at Fran’s Restaurant in Spring Lake, North Ottawa Community Hospital, and Homer Hayden’s Clothing Store in Grand Haven. She was a former member of the Girl Scout Campfire Girls, and she also volunteered as a spotter with the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. She enjoyed reading, doing counted cross stitching, knitting (having received a thank-you note from the White House during the Johnson administration for a special gift she sent), and she loved to garden. She especially loved spending time with her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her four daughters: Georgia (Oscar) Fournier of Brentwood, MO, Mary Douglas of Topsham, ME, Billie Ann (Daniel) Gimborys of Spring Lake, and Elizabeth (Arthur) Yager of Spring Lake; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Franklin Douglas; and seven sisters: Susan, Pearl, Minnie, Frankie, twin sisters Margaret and Ruth, and her twin sister, Leona.
