Leopold "Paul" Tackx's Obituary
Leopold “Paul” Tackx, age 89, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021. He was born on November 12, 1931, in Ravenna to Josephus and Katherine (Van Dyke) Tackx. Paul attended Ravenna High School where he was a standout basketball player. He served his country in the US Army as a Military Police Officer. He was a member of the former St. Jean’s Catholic Church and more recently attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He also served as an altar boy at St. Catherine’s in Ravenna. Paul worked over 30 years making a great name for himself in car/truck fleet sales for Ford Motor Company. He was in partnership as co-owner of Whitelake Ford and was once featured in Time magazine as one of the area’s top Ford sales people. On September 12, 1953, Paul married Jean Gillespie and she preceded him in death in 2007. He enjoyed gardening, boating, water skiing, and the simple joy of living on Mona Lake over 65 years with his family. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Joe Tackx, Paula Adkins, and Bill Ingalls Jr.; daughter-in-law, Patricia Ingalls; 4 grandchildren, Mason Adkins, Bill (Nikki) Ingalls II, Lloyd Ingalls, and Joe (Dawn) Ingalls; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and dear friend, Caroline Jazdzyk. Paul was preceded in death by his two sisters, Emily DeCamp and Marie Tackx and daughter-in-law, Marcia Tackx. A PRIVATE GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be planned for the spring with military rites.
