LeRoy D. "Lee" Smrcina's Obituary
LeRoy D. “Lee” Smrcina, age 80, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 14, 2020. He was born August 25, 1940 in Muskegon, Michigan to Roy and Rena (Barber) Smrcina. Lee graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central in 1958 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Starting at a young age, he had a passion for printing, turning it into a successful 35-year business as the owner of Lee Printing and Graphics. On November 30, 1968 he married Karen L. Orchard and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2009. Lee was a very active member of Knight of Columbus Council #706, as well as a member of the American Legion, the Vikings and previously an Elks Lodge member. He had a love for water and centered a lot of weekends around boating in Grand Haven. SURVIVORS include 2 children: Leigh Smrcina (Muskegon, MI); Stacey (Smrcina) Nickel (Charlotte, NC) and significant other of 10 years, Sue "Slim" Kwolek (Muskegon, MI); step-sister, Sr. Ann Goggin (Houston, TX). He was preceded in death by wife of 40 years, Karen Smrcina, his parents and stepfather Dennis Goggin, and a step-brother, Dennis Goggin. A Celebration of Life will be held 5-8 PM Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Knights of Columbus Hall (2915 Fairfield St.). Private entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Mausoleum. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Muskegon Catholic Education Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
