Leslie R. Keller's Obituary
Major Leslie R. Keller, age 82, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010. He was born December 20, 1927 to Frank and Emily (Hall) Keller in Muskegon Heights. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, retiring from the National Guard as a Major in 1979. On October 25, 1947 he married the former Clara Morphew in Muskegon. Les was employed by Teledyne Continental Motors for 40 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Unity United Methodist Church. Les was a coach for the Reeths Puffer Mighty Midgets and a life member of V.F.W. #8846. He was also an American Legion member for 42 years at both Whitehall Post #69 and Muskegon Post #9 where he was past commander. Les and Clara spent many winters in Panama City Beach, Florida where he enjoyed fishing and golf. Along with his beloved wife of 62 years, Clara, he is survived by his children, Gary (Marilyn) Keller, Frieda (Tom) Olson and Vickie Keller; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-granddaughters; and his brother, Eugene (Rita) Keller. Les was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Rev. Wesley (Cora) Keller. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, July 24 at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue 231 726-5210 with Rev. Gil Boersema officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION will be 6-8 PM Friday. Memorial Contributions may be made to West Michigan Veterans Services, Inc., 165 E. Apple Ave. Muskegon 49442.
