Lester "Clair" Sloan's Obituary
Lester “Clair” Sloan, age 87, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022, in Muskegon, MI. Clair was born on January 1, 1935, in Stanton, MI, to his parents Curtis and Lila (McCully) Sloan. On September 5, 1964, he married the former Beverly Lewis, and they spent 38 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death in 2002. Clair worked as a machine operator for 34 years at Muskegon Piston Ring, and shortly after retiring from there he went on to work 20 more years at Crockery Creek Turkey Farm. Clair was a hard worker who enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, and chopping wood. He loved to go out for a drive on a nice day, whether it was just going out for ice cream or driving to see the Mackinac bridge. He was a generous person who loved to give what he could, and he was always willing to lend a hand to whomever it was needed. Lester will be lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren: Leigh Ann (Todd) McCready, Joshua (Caty) Ruprecht, Todd Sloan, and Luke Sloan; and three great-granddaughters: Carson, Riley, and Kendall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Lila; wife, Beverly; his two sons: Butch Sloan and Chris Sloan; all four of his siblings: James (Doris) Sloan, Curtis Sloan, Ellen Isley, and Mary (Freddy) Hutson; and stepson: Jack Garzelloni. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be taking place at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 7, at 2:00 PM, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442. VISITATION will be taking place from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday, November 6, as well as an hour prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to The Muskegon Rescue Mission. Please sign the family’s online guestbook and share memories with the family at sytsemafh.com
