Levi A. Jourden's Obituary
Mr. Levi Anthony Jourden, 84, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 21, 2006. He was born to Myron and Ida (Ledy) Jourden on January 28, 1922 in Reed City, Michigan. He moved to Muskegon where he met and married Betty Louise Giles on August 8, 1942. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2000. Levi was a member of McGraft Congregational Church. He served his country in the Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1943. He worked for Highland Park Dairy, Butternut Bread Company, Perfect Plus Hosiery, Johnson Technology, and Tooling Components. He met many people along the way, made lots of friends, and always took the time to stop and talk to people. He enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting, and fishing. However, his favorite activity was deer hunting with his family at Aerie Heights in Shelby, and he was so proud of his trophy deer from the fall of 1996. In spite of the fact that Levi suffered two serious bouts of cancer over the last ten years, he maintained his positive attitude and friendly spirit. Levi was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. SURVIVORS include his five children: Harry L. Jourden, Susan K. (Donald) DeLong, Douglas F. Jourden, Michelle N. Jourden, and Jacqueline A. (Chris) Hornik, twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. There will be a private family Memory Service honoring Levi, Betty, and their beloved dog “Bo” at a later date. Their ashes will be scattered at Aerie Heights as per their wishes. Those wishing an expression of sympathy may consider McGraft Congregational Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements handled by
