Levina C. Murdzia's Obituary
Mrs. Levina Cleone (Thomas) Murdzia, age 85, died December 16, 2005. She was born on July 3, 1920 in Utica, MI to Charles P. & Leona Fern Thomas. Mrs. Murdzia lived in Utica until she met Richard Rodney Murdzia. Levina & Richard were married February 13, 1943, and Richard preceded her in death on August 22, 1998. Also preceding her in death were her mother, Leona Fern Jorrey, step-father, Leonard Jorrey and father, Charles P. Thomas, Sr., brother, Charles P. Thomas, sister, Clara A. “Peggy” Thomas Hill, brothers-in-law, Jack P. Duff and Ray Murdzia, and sister-in-law, Ruth Batwinas. SURVIVORS include children, Rodney Murdzia and fiancée, Virginia Porter, Diane (Russell) Larson, Allan (Sharon) Murdzia, Larry (Nancy) Murdzia, and Charlene (Richard) Erxleben; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. After graduating from Utica High School, she graduated from Wayne State University. Levina worked at Chrysler Tank Plant in Detroit until the end of the war. At that time, she went to California with Richard for 1½ years and then came back to Detroit. Richard and Levina then moved to Sterling Heights until July of 1963, when they moved to Muskegon and owned Tiger Asphalt, M&S Trucking, and Armantrout Trucking. Richard was injured in 1977 and retired. Richard and Levina went to California during the winter months for several years, and to Harlingen, TX for several years until 1995. Levina helped in the business, and raised 5 children whom she loved very much. She was a picture collector of family members and events. Levina also loved her doll collection, crossword puzzles, and picture puzzles. According to her wishes, Levina has been cremated. GRAVESIDE SERVICES will be 2 PM Thursday at Egelston Twp. Cemetery with Rev. Richard Thomas officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at Jumbo’s (5624 E. Apple Ave.) between 3-5 PM on Thursday.
