Lewis J. Panici's Obituary
Lewis J. Panici, age 89, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 28, 2020. He was born February 1, 1931 in Muskegon to August and Santa Panici. Lewis graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1950. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served his country during the Korean War. On June 27, 1953, he married Marisue Garrison in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on August 4, 1976. Lewis worked 41 years for Dresser-Shaw Box-Lift Tech prior to his retirement in 1994. He was a former member of St. Jean’s the Baptiste Catholic Church. He was also an active member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union and a member of the American Legion Post 225 in Lansing. Lewis was a handyman and could fix anything. He loved gardening and attending to his yard and he also loved to cook. He loved his gadgets, and on most days, you would find him at the YMCA religiously doing his workouts. You could always count on seeing Lewis at all of his children’s and grandchildren’s events. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Peggy Panici of Spring Lake, David (Mardi) Panici of Lansing, and Penny (Clyde) Krepps of Norton Shores; 3 grandchildren: Leah (Eric) Wendling, Tony (Colleen) Panici, and Cory Krepps; 3 great-grandchildren: Katherine and Caroline Wendling, and Marie Panici; brother, August “Augie” Panici of Muskegon; sister, Mary Swanson of Fruitport; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Pat Picard. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Michael (Joyce), Orie (Verna), and Frederick (Sally) Panici; sister-in-law, Judy Panici; and brother-in-law, Donald Swanson. Private family services will be held. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Marisue, in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
