Lila M Szendre's Obituary
Lila (Isaacson) Szendre passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Poppen Residence in Muskegon. She had just celebrated her 90th birthday. Lila was born in Copemish, MI on June 8, 1926, to Aina and Isaac Isaacson, who farmed over 300 acres and sold a portion of their property to where the Cleon Township cemetery is now located and where Lila will rest. She graduated as valedictorian from Copemish High School. She married George Szendre in 1945 and they were married 60 years. They had no children but had many nieces and nephews. Lila worked at Norge and Amstore, from where she retired in 1988. Lila and George enjoyed their retirement years, fishing, hunting, traveling in their motor home and spending winters down south. Their favorite places were Arizona, Alabama, and Florida. They had visited all 50 states. Lila enjoyed her last 11 years at the Villiage of Park Terrace. She had many good friends and kept busy with many activities, playing cards, and socializing. Lila was preceded in death by her husband George in 2005; 3 brothers, Bill, Rudy, and Oscar Isaacson; 2 sisters, Julia Koskie and Nina Koskela Hlnkley. There will be family services at the Cleon Township Cemetery in Copemish at a later date.
