Lillian "Betty" Elizabeth Comstock's Obituary
Lillian (Betty) Elizabeth Comstock, 95, of Muskegon, MI, died peacefully at Heartwood Lodge Hospice in Spring Lake, MI on August 10, 2014. Betty was born March 25, 1919 in Hart, MI to Carroll and Margie (Stevenson) Lyon. She married Harold Hopper in 1979; Harold preceded her in death in 1984. Betty then married Arden J. Betty served generations of customers as the Office Manager of Hosler’s Department Store in Muskegon and maintained lifelong friendships with staff members. She had a wry sense of humor, a generous heart, a sense of adventure, and never uttered an unkind word about any one. Her life was guided by her faith and lessons learned from the Depression. She will be sorely missed.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her step-daughters Jean Comstock Nordby (Dale) of Okatie, SC, Joan Comstock Eckhardt (Dick) of Okatie, SC, and Sharon Comstock Tanis (Dick) of Grand Haven, MI, and by step-grandchildren, Kristen Carlson Slater of Spotsylvania, VA and Glenn T. Carlson of Carmel, IN.
There will be no memorial service. Internment of Betty’s ashes will be at the Columbarium within Central United Methodist Church, Muskegon, MI where she was a long standing member. Those wishing to remember Betty may contribute to the Disabled Veterans of America or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
