Lillian Vanderwest's Obituary
Lillian Ila Vanderwest, age 88, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008, at the Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence in Muskegon. She was born March 11, 1919, in Muskegon to Leigh and Barbara (French) Patterson, and she married Bert Vanderwest on June 14, 1941, in Bryan, Ohio. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1973.
Mrs. Vanderwest was a 1937 graduate of Muskegon High School and had been employed as a bookkeeper for Campeau, Mullaly, & Meyer Insurance Company. A dedicated wife and mother, Lillian devoted herself to caring for her husband during a long illness. She also spent much time lovingly caring for her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (John) Crozier of Ferrysburg and Terry North of Grand Haven; nine grandchildren: John B. Crozier of Grand Rapids, Stephen (Erin) Crozier of Hastings, Melinda (Todd) Crozier of Tempe, AZ, Sarah Michel of La Jolla, CA, Christopher Crozier and Caitlin Crozier of Muskegon, Colin (Elizabeth) North of Holt, MI, Robert North of College Station, TX, and David North of Grand Haven; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Pastoor of Sedona, AZ.
The service for Lillian will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2008, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. Lydia Meyer officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Muskegon.
