Lillian Marie (Filippa) Sullivan's Obituary
This long-time North Muskegon and Laketon Township resident unexpectedly passed away November 21, 2009 in Honolulu, Hawaii. A native of Oakland, California, Lillian had been happily married to Peter J. Sullivan of San Francisco for 47 years when he passed away in 1990 after a 40-year career with Gerber Products Company. In his Gerber career, Peter and Lillian had moved their family to Rochester, New York in 1952 and then, in 1963, to the Northside Muskegon area which became their adopted home. Lillian and Peter suffered the loss of their eldest son, Michael Peter Sullivan in 1984 and, after losing her husband in 1990, Lillian suffered the further loss of grandson, Michael Patrick Sullivan in 1994. Lillian is survived by four children: Mark F. Sullivan, attorney, retired U.S. Naval Reserve captain and senior partner of Sullivan Taketa LLP, Westlake Village, CA (spouse, Millicent); Kathryn M. Sullivan of North Muskegon, formerly employed as an advertising executive by Graphics House Publications of Muskegon Heights; Peter J. Sullivan, employed as a professional staff member by Kalamazoo Regional Education Service Agency (spouse, Cynthia), and Ellen Sullivan Jamison, vice-president, Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., San Francisco (spouse, William L. Jamison). Lillian is also survived by seven grandchildren: Angela P. Sullivan of Muskegon (daughter of Michael P. Sullivan); Patrick M. Sullivan, Matthew F. Sullivan, Mark F. Sullivan, Jr., Thomas J. Sullivan and John D. Sullivan (sons of Mark F. Sullivan) and Kelly M. Sullivan (daughter of Peter J. Sullivan). Visitation for friends and family will be held 5:00pm to 9:00pm Friday, December 4, 2009 at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30pm Friday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 PM Saturday, December 5, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Downtown Muskegon, with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum presiding. Burial will take place at 3:30pm Saturday at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Muskegon.
