Mrs. Lillie Bell Hicks' Obituary
Mrs. Lillie Bell Hicks (Bell) age 92 of Muskegon, Michigan, quietly made her transition to Eternal Glory on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Trinity Health Hospital after a courageous battle with multiple illnesses.
She was born to James and Lillie Bell Rogers (sharing name and birthday with mother) on May 31, 1930, in Starkville, Mississippi. Lillie was educated in the south and later moved to Muskegon, Michigan. Lillie married Mr. James Hicks who preceded her in death. She was the mother of 4 and a housewife. The family attended Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Van Hannett.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory 3 children, James Rickie Hicks Jr., Mark Hicks of Muskegon, Michigan and Gloria Hicks of McKinney Texas. Nieces, Mrs. Elmetris Robinson of Birmingham, Alabama and Ms. Portia Kidd of Muskegon, Michigan, nephews, Mr. James Nathan (Jean) Rogers of Berea, Ohio and Mr. John Culp Jr. of Muskegon, Michigan, Grandchildren (Verna Hicks), Angela Bell Hicks, Janelle Marie Hicks, James R. Hicks IV, Terence J. Hicks, Louis Hicks all of Muskegon, MI. Vernon L. Hicks of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Loutonia Renee Rocha of Holland, Michigan; (Peggy S. Hicks), Mark Hicks Jr. of Detroit, MI and Jonathan Hicks of Portland, MI; (Marilyne Rogers), Safiya Rogers, Rafiq Rogers, Hakeem Rogers, Abdur-Rahim Rogers, Aqueelah Rogers all of Muskegon, MI. Ruqaiyah Rogers of Grand Rapids, MI, Daa’iyah Rogers-Valle’ of Texas, and a number of great great grandchildren. 6 great nieces, Ms. Kelly Driver of Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Danielle Scholten’s of Louisville, Kentucky, Ms. Shannon Morris of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Ms. Ashley Morris of Westland, Michigan, Ms. Marsha Thomas and Ms. April Culp of Muskegon, MI, 4 great nephews, Roy Thomas of Muskegon, John Culp III of South Carolina, Todd (Shauna) Faasse of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jamal Rogers of Berea, Ohio and a host of beloved family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son Mr. Fredrick Rogers, a granddaughter Elisha Rogers, a grandson, Mr. Lucas Hicks, 2 sisters Sara Culp and Mary E. White, a brother James Rogers (Lil Brother) and two nieces, Martha Thomas of Muskegon, MI, and Joan Devlin of Grand Rapids, MI.
A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Bella Maria's (513 W. Pontaluna Rd.) from 12noon to 3pm.
