Linda "Sue" Fairfield-Hekkema's Obituary
Linda “Sue” Hekkema, age 80, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Saturday, July 12, 2025. She was born in Muskegon on May 5, 1945, to Robert and Virginia (Gilmore) Fairfield. She graduated from Orchard View High School and spent her whole life in the Muskegon area.
Sue loved spending time outdoors, including camping, river trips, and going to bonfires. She enjoyed baking cookies and playing cards, particularly euchre. She cherished her family and loved spending time with them, especially with her grandchildren. She was a proud grandmother and attended all of their sporting events over the years. She also enjoyed the many trips she took to Kansas and Indiana to visit her sisters. She was outgoing and always willing to share her opinion, but had a big heart and was always willing to help those who needed it.
Sue will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tammy (Raymond) Mays; three grandchildren: Dakota Willick, Colt Willick, and Liberty (Gavin Cunningham) Willick; three sisters: Vera Yates, Ella Temple, and Laura “Peggy” (John) Gansbauer; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Hekkema; parents, Robert and Virginia Fairfield; two brothers: Ike Fairfield and Earl Fairfield; sister Carol McGruther; and three siblings in-law: Kenneth Yates, Gary Temple, and Linda Fairfield.
A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be taking place for Sue from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442.
