Linda S. Gundy's Obituary
Mrs. Linda Sue Gundy, age 73, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, October 7, 2022. She was born on April 30, 1949 to Dale and Gertrude (Hartman) Townsend in Muskegon. Linda graduated from Muskegon High School in 1967 and one year later married the love of her life, Clarence Gundy, at Hope Reformed Church on July 19, 1968. After high school, Linda took a secretarial position at Fitzpatrick Electric Supply Co. in Muskegon. She and Clarence then moved to Kalamazoo where she worked at Brown Supply Co. and Shakespeare Co. The two moved back home to raise their two children, Traci and Troy, as well as continue to run the family business, Gundy Hardware. Linda and Clarence worked side by side for 26 years at the store until they both decided to retire. Clarence and Linda were longtime members of Hope Reformed Church of Muskegon. Linda’s strong faith and dedication to her church family were apparent in her roles as Deacon, Elder, Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher, and Young Adult Group Leader. Linda dearly loved her family and the time spent with them creating many cherished memories, which she did by traveling, reading, baking, and escaping the snow to bask on the beach under the Florida sun. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Clarence; children, Traci (Kyle) Anderson and Troy (Michelle) Gundy; grandchildren, Kennedy Lorraine Anderson, Kelsey Renee Anderson, and Ellery Ray Gundy; siblings, Dale (Kathy) Townsend, Joe (Bobbi) Townsend, Deb (John) Carlyle, Janis Morris, and Gayle (Roger) Scanlon; and five nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two nephews, Trevor Jon Allen and Brent Robert Scanlon. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 18 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. The Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 19 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Linda’s memory may be sent to Susan Mast ALS Foundation or Spectrum Health Hospice and Palliative Care.
