Linda L. Harris' Obituary
Linda Lois Harris, age 79, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022, in Traverse City, MI. Linda was born in Omer, MI, on March 16, 1943, to her parents Clare and Gertrude (Devault) Hess. Linda worked for 27 years as a schoolteacher for Orchard View school district before retiring in 2007. On September 14, 1963, she married Alvin Morefield, and they spent 50 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death in 2014. Linda enjoyed doing many things and had many hobbies, including gardening, arts and crafts, antique shopping, and collecting special rocks. Her faith was very important to her as well: she was a longtime member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muskegon, and was part of the group that organized the founding of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Recently she had been attending St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Cadillac, MI. Linda was very generous with her time, volunteering for a few years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in Muskegon, and more recently for a few years at Mason Elementary in Grosse Pointe. Family was very important to Linda, and she cherished all the time that she spent with them. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bruce Harris, who she married in 2018; two children: Joe (Susan) Morefield and Cindy Morefield-Pinder; Bruce’s two children: James (Elina) Harris and Jonathan (Bonnie) Harris; eight grandchildren: Anthony, Courtney, Allison, Kelly, Theodore, Jacob, Cassandra, and Emma; two great-grandchildren; sister, Janet (William) Mcpherson; many nieces and nephews; and a former exchange student who was practically a daughter to Linda, Val Molinuevo of Argentina. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Clare and Gertrude Hess; former spouse, Alvin Morefield; and son in-law, Jeffrey Pinder. A FUNERAL MASS for Linda will be taking place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muskegon.
