Linda Belle Ohman's Obituary
Linda Belle Ohman, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Kent City, MI. She was born April 1, 1943, in Ravenna, MI to Forrest and Blanche (Nichols) Kern. On August 27, 1959, she married the love of her life, Torrey Ohman, and they were blessed to be together for more than 65 years. Linda worked for Kent City Schools as a lunch lady and drove bus for 33 years.
Linda was a phenomenal cook, enjoyed doing puzzles, and was skilled at crocheting. She had a warm demeanor and was known to tease relentlessly—always “just kidding.” The only time her temper rose was during an intense marble game of Aggravation. She enjoyed canning fresh vegetables from Torrey’s garden and bird watching out her bay window. She also enjoyed traveling with Torrey down to Florida with the Colbys, to Branson, MO for the entertainment, and to Tennessee to visit with loved ones. Linda was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Linda is survived by her husband, Torrey; children, Torrey (Nina) Ohman Jr. and Todd (Beth) Ohman; grandchildren, Tessa Brosseau, Tiffany Ohman, Tiffany (Eric) Young, Steven (Ashley) Ohman and Courtney (Matthew) Kozak; great grandchildren, Remi, Henri, Denis, Liam, Evelyn and Levi; sisters, Marilynn Stanton, Leeta (Greg) Inman, Charmayne Devenport and Juanita (Richard) Stuhan; and good friends, Jackie and Phil Colby. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Phyliss McGrady and Louise Proctor.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be 2 PM on Friday, October 11, 2024, at The Ravenna Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services (3570 Thomas St., Ravenna, MI 49451) and VISITATION with the family 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider providing a Memorial Contribution to Kid’s Food Basket. Interment will take place at S. Casnovia Cemetery.
