Linda J. Slater's Obituary
Linda J. Slater, age 79, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025. She was born on June 22, 1945 in Muskegon to Glen and Sarah (Pawneshing) Williams and was a life resident of the area. Linda was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. She graduated from Oakridge High School, Muskegon Community College, West Michigan Bible Institute receiving a Bachelors in Religious Education on June 4, 2000 and Aenon Bible College receiving a ministerial license on August 18, 2008. She also taught a class on Spiritual Warfare after graduating. Linda evangelized weekly at the Muskegon Women’s Rescue Mission. She was a devoted member of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church for 50+ years under the leadership of Bishop William L. Burrel, Suff. Bishop Willie L. Burrel, and now current pastor, Bishop Avery D. Burrel. She served as an Evangelist and a Sunday School teacher for ages 3-7, assisted by Sis Debra Oliver. She was also the corresponding secretary for the missionary department, and a treasurer for the Women’s Day Department. A skilled seamstress and quilter, Linda crafted nearly all of her own clothing. Throughout her career, Linda held various roles within the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department before transitioning to Brunswick, where she worked for over 15 years until her retirement in 2013. SURVIVORS include her son, Glen A. (Phyllis) Williams; grandsons, Nicholas Eugene Williams and Stephen Michael Williams; along with great granddaughter, Nova Williams and great grandson, Oakly Williams; and special friends, Sunday School Superintendent Lessie Townsel and Sis Berniece Mason. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and special friend Evangelist Virginia LaNore. A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Linda will be 11 AM Monday, March 24, 2025 at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church, 412 E. Sherman Blvd. Muskegon, MI 49444.
