Linda Joyce Strong's Obituary
Linda Joyce Strong, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2023, at The Poppen Hospice Residence. She was born in Muskegon, MI, on January 9, 1940, to Carl and Carmen (Essenberg) Bogema. She attended Western Michigan Christian High School and graduated from Central Michigan University in 1961. After college, she taught elementary school, and would soon marry the love of her life, Leigh Strong, on October 10, 1964.
Linda lived life with an adventurous spirit. She enjoyed travelling around the world and would not hesitate to try new things. She liked the outdoors and spent time hiking, gardening, and enjoying the family cottage on West Lake. She was a great cook and always looked forward to her regular card game with her friends. Linda was community minded and put energy into her volunteer efforts including helping at the front desk at The Poppen House. Linda was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She stayed closely connected to all four of her grandchildren as they grew and moved out into the world.
Linda will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Leigh; sons, Matt Strong and Dave (Beth) Strong; grandchildren, Leah (Robbie) Reid, Lauren Strong, Michael Strong, and Abby Strong; and sister, Vicki (Dave) Snyder. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judy Paquin; and brother, Robert Bogema.
VISITATION with the family will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services (6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444) from 4-7 PM. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11 AM on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at The Lee Chapel with Rev. Dan Anderson officiating and VISITATION 1 hour prior to the service.
