Linda Sue Welsh's Obituary
Linda Sue Welsh, age 78, passed away June 30, 2025. She was born March 30, 1947, in Grand Rapids, MI to Erne and Lillie (Gjestrum) Mathews. Linda graduated from Western Michigan University and dedicated 41 years of her career as a speech pathologist with the Ottawa County School District before retiring. She was deeply involved in the Teacher’s Union and served as a valued mentor to many aspiring educators. On July 1, 1967, she married David H. Welsh at St. Michael Catholic Church in Brunswick, MI. David preceded her in death on June 29, 2011. Linda was a talented cook and baker who enjoyed genealogy, quilting, and gardening. She was also an avid collector and a consultant for the Longaberger Basket Company. One of her greatest joys was watching and supporting her grandson Neil in his sports activities. Linda is survived by her son, David (Brenda Bahr) Welsh; daughter, Darcy (Bob) Grevious; three grandchildren: Neil W. Welsh, Luke Grevious, and Emily (Jeff) Franklin; three great-grandchildren: Ari, Ronnie, and William; two brothers: Brian (Christine) Knight and Barry Knight; nieces and nephews: Megan, Nikki, Kacie, Mark, Randi, Tim, Adam, and Tiffany. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Knight; sister, Patsy Boukamp; and her aunt, Joyce Knight. According to her wishes, there will be no services. She will be laid to rest in Holton Oakwood Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Hospice of Michigan or the Alzheimer’s Association will be appreciated.
