Lisa Ilene Carlson's Obituary
Lisa Ilene Carlson, age 46, died Friday, October 18, 2019 as a result of her seven-year courageous battle with auto immune hepatitis. She was born December 20, 1972 in Kalamazoo, MI to Nels “Verne” and Barbara (Blink) Carlson; and has resided back in the Muskegon area since 2000. Lisa was a graduate of Montague High School and attended Muskegon Community College and Great Lakes Academy in Allendale where she received her training as a Paramedic. She has served as a Paramedic for 20 years; and for the last 4 years of her career served as the Director of the ProMed EMT Program at Baker College. Lisa has taught EMT classes for both Paramedics and Fire Fighters across the State of Michigan for 9 years. Music was a big part of Lisa’s life. She enjoyed playing her saxophone, dancing, and was a fantastic artist. She also loved the Renaissance Festival and the Irish Festival. She is survived by her Partner, Amanda Visger; her parents, Nels “Verne” and Barbara of Muskegon; 1 brother, Chad (Tricia) Carlson of Montague; 2 nephews, Joshua and Isaac Carlson and 1 niece, Ashley (Seth) Carlson-Binns, and by a special friend, Melissa “Mo” Carskadon. A Celebration of Lisa’s Life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 27, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Pastor John Frank, officiating. VISITATION with Lisa’s family will be from 12:30 PM until the time of the service at 2:00 PM.
