Mrs. Lisa Ann Knudsen-Gerling's Obituary
Mrs. Lisa Ann Knudsen Gerling, age 53, passed away Monday evening, April 1, 2013 at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Lisa was born April 22, 1959 to Harry and Katharine (Schleman) Knudsen in Muskegon. She received her Culinary Arts Degree from the Culinary Institute of America in New York. Lisa had been the food service director for Forest Hills Schools for 10 years prior to her illness. On December 24, 1993 Lisa married Robert R. Gerling and he survives her. She was a member of Kainay Community Church and had been a volunteer at Hackley Hospital’s Lobbyside Café. Lisa enjoyed boating, downhill skiing and being a grandmother. She was a very accomplished artist, working in oils, acrylics and watercolors. Most of all, she was a wonderful wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed. In addition to her husband of 19 years, Robert, Lisa is survived by her children, Jaime Knudsen of N. Muskegon, Robert William (Candice) Gerling of Muskegon and Mindy Marie Gerling of Grandville; 2 grandchildren, Izyk and Eli Gerling; parents, Harry and Katharine Knudsen; brother, Jon (Martina) Knudsen of Yardley, PA; sister, Kaj (Chris) Brown of Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 11, 2013 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, 231-798-1100 with Pastor Joseph Vest officiating. VISITATION will be Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Northwestern Hospital Cancer Foundation or Harbor Hospice.
