Lloyd J. Cogswell's Obituary
Mr. Lloyd J. Cogswell, age 58, died Thursday morning, March 7, 2013 at his home. He was born December 1, 1954 in Ravenna to Francis E. and Amber J. (Smack) Cogswell; and has been a life resident of the area. Prior to his retirement January 1, 2012, Lloyd had been employed at Consumer’s Energy for 27 years as a maintenance repairman. He was a 1974 graduate of Ravenna High School where he won the MHSAA State Championship for Wrestling. In 1976-77, he became the All-American Wrestling Champion, while attending Muskegon Community College. In 2010, he was inducted into the Ravenna High School Hall of Fame for Wrestling. He was a member of St. Mary’s of the Woods Catholic Church. On September 8, 1978 he married the former Cinda M. Bredin and she survives him along with 2 daughters, Rebecca (Micky) Brazaski of Mason, MI and Megan Cogswell and fiancé, Peter Roets of Hastings, MI; 5 grandchildren, Samantha, Gavin and Allison Brazaski and Benjamin and Roger Roets; 5 siblings, Stewart (Sharon) Cogswell, Lorna (Larry) Baxter, Ann Marie Dahl, Randy Cogswell and Amber Cogswell; his father-in-law, Bill Bredin; 4 brothers-in-law, Michael (Julie) Bredin, David (Jayne) Bredin, Randal (Lena) Bredin and Gregory (Monica) Bredin and by special friends, The Burr & Farber Families. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Stephen and Darcy Cogswell; and his mother-in-law, Joyce Bredin. The MEMORIAL MASS will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Pelak, presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with Lloyd’s family will be 3-5 & 7-9PM Monday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100).
