Lloyd J. Press' Obituary
Lloyd “Jim” Jay Press, age 87, passed away on Monday, February, 20, 2017. He was born on July 14, 1929 to Lloyd M. and Kathryn (Wiersema) Press in Muskegon. Jim spent much of childhood being raised by his grandparents Peter and Anna Wiersema. He was an active and faithful member to Fellowship Reformed Church in Muskegon. While being a member at church he was a deacon and an elder as well as on the building committee that expanded the church. In his younger years, Jim lived to play fast pitch softball. After softball golfing turned into a favorite pastime for him. He was a member at Lincoln Golf Club. He is survived by his children, Robin (Rodney) Hollowell, Jim Press, Mark (Darlene) Press, Christine Sterling; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Seymour. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Press, who passed on February 4th; daughter, Susan Sturgeon; parents; grandparents; and brother, Scott. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100) with Pastor Mike VanKampen officiating. A MEMORIAL VISITATION for Lloyd and Betty will take place on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the funeral home from 6–8 pm and one hour prior to the service (10-11AM). Donation’s in Jim’s name can be made to the Mercy Heart Center. Thanks to Christian Care and to Hospice of Michigan who took very good care of Lloyd and Betty.
